iPad 3 rumors, release date, specs, features, news and everything you need to know

iPad 3 is one of the most anticipated devices from Apple this year. As always, any Apple device that is about to hit the markets make rounds on the web with different rumored features and specifications.

Here is a list of iPad 3 rumors, spec, features, release date, news that took every tech analyst and enthusiast by surprise.

iPad 3 launch date
iPad 3 release date are not yet officially announced by Apple representatives, but they are expected to be released in 2012.There's a chance the iPad 3 won't actually fit the spring release pattern set by its predecessors. One analyst predicted a hold-up with processor development, which could delay the launch until June 2012, where the iPad could be revealed at Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), as the iPhone once was.

Operating System:
iPad 3 is set to experience a major change when the OS of the most awaited tablet is discussed. The iPad 2 was powered by iOS 4, and now, as expected, the upcoming iPad 3 will see the next-generation iOS 5. Rumors regarding the OS even went deeper as the tablet was also rumored to run OS X. Just because a quad-core processor was also rumored, analysts and tech enthusiasts said that there are high chances that Apple would also introduce OS X Lion for the tablet.

iPad 3 display

The iPhone 4S display has a pixel density so high the human eye can't discern individual pixels at a normal viewing distance. This means bootylicious curved edges and kern-perfect text. It's a real joy to view. It's pretty much a dead cert for the new iPad too.

Sources reckon Apple recently bought a tonne of 2,048x1,536-pixel displays from rival Samsung, which makes their litigious relationship all the more complex. We're happy to see them snuggling up if it means having twice the resolution of the iPad 2.
New glass manufacturing techniques mean that sleek, curved displays are finally a commercial reality. Our CNET News cousins from across the pond hear that Apple bought as many as 300 special glass-cutting machines to add a new curved display to its own products.

iPad 3 A6 processor
The iPad 2 flashed a 900MHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, Apple A5 chipset and PowerVr SGX543MP2 GPU. That made the tablet one of the main contenders in the tablet market war. Now iPad 3 is about to be introduced to millions of customers. The tablet was and is still rumored to sport a Quad-Core Processor, most probably the A6. If this is true, then iPad 3 will become as powerful as any high-end desktop computer.

Rumors in the past stated that the Samsung A6 processor had been delayed, all the way until the middle of 2012, which, given the rumored first quarter of 2012 release date for the iPad 3, would be too late to be included in the first iPad 3 tablets. The source, however, has pointed out that Samsung has increased their production rate at their Texas based manufacturing plant, and would be able to produce more of the A6 processors at a much sooner time, possibly in time for the first quarter release of the iPad 3.

Camera
Everybody expected a camera with a flash for iPad 2, but that never came. iPad 3 is on its way and is rumored to be built with one. The previous iPad 2 had a decent camera. But the question is what will it be like when the iPad 3 hits the market with a camera with a built-in flash? This was one of the many rumors that made every technology fanatic jump out of his seat.

Siri on iPad 3?

Siri, the sassy voice-activated personal assistant that features on the iPhone 4S, is likely to make its tablet debut on the iPad 3.
You might need a 3G model if you want it to arrange your affairs while out and about, as it needs to send your demands over the airwaves to Apple for processing. But the prospect of deeper integration on an iPad is tantalising. You might have to wait for iOS 6 before Siri gets a fancy set of full-screen features, but any Siri integration is sure to be the icing on a perfectly formed 10-inch cake.

iPad 3 2012 to Replace iPad 2 2011?

Some of us may be thinking that iPad 3G is a replacement for the iPad 2. However, based on a report from the Taiwan Economic News, the next model of iPad will not replace the current one. But rather, iPad 3 will be added to the iPads series. It will have a faster processor, which is rumoured to be the A6 processor, a camera with better resolution and clearer photo capture, a retina display that will surely be appreciated by tablet lovers, and other improved iPad apps.
There will also be enhanced iPad accessories for this new product.

4G Compatibility iPad 3:
Apple has been looking forward to a 4G-compatible tablet device as all the others in the market have already provided a tablet computer that supports the feature. The company’s previous venture, iPad 2, only offered 3G. So it is expected that Apple will definitely look forward to a 4G-compatible tablet to counter its competitors.

iPad 3 battery and design
Apple has secured a stash of thinner batteries that hold a longer charge than older models, despite a 20-30 per cent increase in cost. Let's hope Apple makes those savings elsewhere so we don't see a price hike.

Connectivity:
Previously, Apple introduced the HDMI playback in iPad 2. This, however, had problems of its own. The user needed an additional digital AV adapter which was available for $39. The upcoming iPad 3 is expected to end the problems regarding the additional HDMI cable with an evolved HDMI port.

Ipad3 Price:
Now, we all know that the Apple iPad 2 is not a cheap device. The iPad 2 price is approximately $499 as stated in one iPad 2 review, but it is highly possible that this price will go down by the end of the year. It was stated that 2011 is for the iPad 2, so it’s expected that Apple will be manufacturing this specific device only for this year. However, in order to successfully continue with the release of iPad 3 2012, their stocks for the 2G iPad must be all sold out. To achieve this, they may consider giving discounts for iPad 2. This will be a good opportunity for everyone who is interested in buying a cheap iPad. However, if you want an upgraded Apple iPad, then you might as well save your money and wait for the release of the iPad 3.
