Core i5 760 to launch in Q3 2010

Intel is planning to launch a few new parts in its mainstream performance MS2 market segment. It currently offers the Core i5 750 clocked at 2.66GHz (3.2GHz with Turbo), but it hopes to replace it with Core i5 760. This time we are talking about desktop CPUs.

The new Core i5 760 is naturally faster than the 750. It runs at 2.8GHz and has a whopping 8MB of cache, four threads and four cores, as well as DDR3 1066 and 1333 support. Its TDP is set at 95W and it comes in a socket LGA1156 package.

Things are not that simple, as Intel wants to sell unlocked Core i5 655K CPUs in the same market segment and this one is clocked to 3.2GHz and overclocks to 3.46GHz with turbo. It currently sells for some €215 here. In USA this CPU sells for 210 to $220 + shipping and tax if it applies, here.

The Intel Core i5-750, 4x 2.67GHz is available for €177 here ($199 in USA here ) and this should be the price of Core i5-760, 4x 2.8 GHz when it launches in Q3.
