Microsoft will announce a 3D strategy. Currently, it is known that the Xbox 360 can offer 3D support, but the question of what kind of 3D support and what Microsoft intends to do with it is still unknown.
With all of the Natal talk preceding and that will be occurring at E3, the company might have a hard time fitting in their 3D plans. Don’t expect a big ‘to do’ about it, according to our sources; but instead expect something along the lines of, “We are enabling 3D support in our next Dashboard update and we are making it available to the developer community. A number of titles both upcoming and unannounced will offer 3D support.”
We still don’t expect 3D to be the game changer that some are claiming that it will be, and most analysts seem to agree with us. At least for the moment, the software or lack of software is the issue, but this time around we think that the lack of 3D-enabled monitors could be the deal breaker for many gamers. As one analyst told us, “It is great that the manufacturers want to hype 3D support, but talk to me the next time I have to replace the monitor that my console is connected to and then I might consider getting a 3D one; but I just purchased the HDTV and I am not ready to part with it just yet.”
